The Ever So Irritating Relationship Weight and How to Take a Stand!

How easy is it to gain five to ten pounds when you are in a relationship?  I think we have all been there once or twice but how do we prevent it and get back on track for those of us it has invaded.  I recently moved in with my boyfriend and it has not been a pretty scene.  I have a hard time on my own battling my inner food demons with my cabinets and refrigerator almost bare.  Now I canā€™t control what is in my house and for a while I gave in and indulged for a variety of reasons such as my schedule was thrown off, snacking was a social event between the two of us, and of course my favorite emotional eating due to this drastic change in my life.  This new eating pattern coupled with skipping the gym frequently and shortening my workouts so I could spend more time with my honey did not help this issue.  It came to the point where I could barely fit into my pants and I had to take control.  My pants are expensive and I refuse to buy all new investment pieces to satisfy my weight gain.

Letā€™s chit chat about some remedies here:
Remember itā€™s so easy to gain the pounds but when you want to lose it you completely forget all your good habits.  With that being said here are some tips to help you if you are in the same predicament or plan on moving in with someone who does not have the same healthy lifestyle you do.

Tip 1:  I make a healthy protein for dinner when we eat together (lean chicken, fish, pork etc.) then I make my side of veggies or a salad and I make my partner in crime potatoes and some frozen veggie pilaf something or another in a bag he likes.  Takes no extra time and we are both happy for dinner!!

Tip 2: TV snacks do not have to be unhealthy.  I skip the ice cream and cookies and slice an apple, make some tea with honey, or even have a larabar if I want to get really crazy.

Tip 3: Keep that gym routine going, this is so important because this will balance you out if you start to take in a few more calories.  Add more weight and run and extra mile!

Tip 4: Find healthy things to do together that doesnā€™t include watching movies and sitcoms such as finding new adventure spots, yard work, escape room, obstacle course or even make some wine or do a cooking class together.

Tip 5: Out of sight, out of mind.  Let your man keep a cabinet all to himself and NEVER go into that cabinet.  If you do not know what is in that cabinet you wonā€™t be tempted.

Tip 6: If you are going to splurge then splurge, just as long as it is not every night and you are keeping up with your lifestyle you will be good for those pizza and beer Fridays!

Remember its all fun and games until you can't fit into your pants!
