I swear there was just one day in my mid-thirties that I just looked at my skin and was in shock. The wrinkles were starting, my skin started to look thin, and things were just not where they used to be if you know what I mean. Luckily during this time of my life, I was trying to get into nursing school so I was learning a lot about the skin’s layers and the aging process. This newly found information scared me even more so I started to get proactive with my fight against the aging process.
Just a little info for you, we have a layer of skin called the dermis and this layer is the keeper of our collagen and elastin, also referred to as our youth. Our collagen starts to deplete at age 25 (wish I knew this then) so by the time you hit your 30’s you start to see the effects of the aging process full force.
There are things we can do to help with this but it is something that needs to be part of your lifestyle in order to see the true effects and hang on to our healthy skin glow we all love and deserve.
My Beauty Tips:
· I put a scoop of collagen in my latte every morning (never miss it)
· My body wash has collagen in it for a little extra something!
· Egg whites, berries, chicken, leafy greens, citrus, seafood, and bone broth are a few of my favorites to add to your diet.
· Facials are a must (do them at home or get them professionally done, but make sure you take the time out of your day, once a week)
· Body scrubs will remove the dead skin cells to make room for fresh skin cells, this is a must (I use a sugar scrub once a week but any will do)
· Dry Brushing helps with circulation and should be done daily (I do my thighs and butt and then stomach and arms when I have time). I put a brush on each hand for a more efficient system. (I do not mess around with daily exfoliation)
· If you are in the sun, wear a hat and sunblock. Even if you have really amazing melanocytes that make your skin a gorgeous tan (I lack these and freckle), you are still aging yourself. Get a self-tanner and call it a day (I have some great ones you can do at home if you want to message me)
These are some things I highly recommend as part of your daily routines. You may not be able to control the aging process but you can do some things to slow it down and improve it!
It’s Glow Time!
