Staying Fit on Vacation Never Felt So Amazing!

How often do we go on vacation and dread the scale when we return?  I don’t know about you but before I go away I am doing extra workouts, cleansing, omitting my snacks, and giving myself a nice five-pound buffer. I want to look good and not feel guilty for indulging when presented with amazing foods and fun drinks that I can't get at home.  I still want the full experience but it is important to plan for it the best you can so you can have your fun and maintain your fit body too!  

Every time I go away I do a little research of sites I want to see, activities I want to participate in, and indoor/outdoor fitness classes that are offered.  I do this because I would rather stay out of the gym and get my workouts in effortlessly while enjoying my vacation so I plan the best I can.

Just recently I went to Bermuda and I saw they had SUP paddle boarding yoga, it was something I have never tried before and made me nervous but I signed up anyway.  Let me tell you, I not only got an amazing paddle boarding workout but the scenery took my breath away.  We anchored to do the yoga and sea turtles were literally popping up everywhere!  I not only had a full body workout but I had a mental one too!  I then ran over to the other side of the resort and got my boyfriend to do a long walk with me in the Bermudiful ocean so that I could show him these amazing sea turtles, it was nonstop working out but it was so much fun!  The next day we rented paddle boards and kayaks to do some exploring and even though it was a workout and a half, it just didn’t feel like it.  We were having so much fun and then relaxed in their anchored rafts that were in the ocean once we returned our rentals.  After some serious relaxation we decided to then get ready and walk around the part of town where the cruise ships dock.  If I added up all the steps we took and calories we burned that day it would probably equal three gym workouts so by the time I had my meals I would still make healthier choices but I was still enjoying myself.
 
It is important to balance your healthy choices with the indulging because it will all balance out when you are working out on vacation.  I personally love to splurge on afternoon ice cream or specialty drinks but with all the walking, site seeing, swimming, etc. if you stay active and splurge when it feels right you are going to feel amazing, look amazing, and sleep the best you have ever slept in your life!  
 



There are some vacations that if I know I am going to be lounging around all day and just relaxing because you shouldn’t leave the resort I will go for a run around the resort, do yoga, or stop at the gym but I still try my best to stay away from the sugar drinks and try to stick to healthy choices when it comes to eating.

Never deprive yourself, indulge in moderation, and leave your vacation feeling better than when you left!
